Week of Hope – Youth Servant Event

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially those who are of the household of faith.” -Galatians 6:9-10

Typically each summer, youth from our church participate in a Week of Hope.  It is a week of serving God’s people and growing in faith through an experience like no other.

We came up with a Youth for Hire idea to give these youth the opportunity to serve members of our congregation while earning the funds to pay for their trip! Simultaneously, this program grants these youth the opportunity to practice important trades they’ll use in life, learn new skills from participating mentors, teaches the importance of working to achieve their goals, and allows the opportunity to serve God by serving His people.

If there is a small project on your to-do list that we can help with, please complete this request form. Someone will contact you within a couple of days to make arrangements! If you would like to serve as a mentor and help make this program a success, please indicate that in the ‘What can we help you with’ box. Thank you for your unwavering support of our youth!

NUTS – Never Underestimate The Spirit!

NUTS is our high school ministry, open for youth in grades 10 through 12. We have weekly hang outs from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday nights all year long.  We also meet on Sunday Mornings from 9:30-10:45 during the school year.  We use this time to catch up and to tackle tough questions about life and faith. The primary purpose of the NUTS ministry is “to ignite, nurture and equip Christ-centered youth.”

Throughout the year, there are various events to be involved in, from serving Easter breakfast to pizza sales for our annual ski trip, state level youth gatherings to canoe trips and lock-ins. A highlight is always our July trip to Sonshine Christian Music Festival, five days of camping, music, building friendship, and enjoy being together.

LCMS Youth Gathering

national-youth-gatheringEvery 3 Years, OSLC sends youth and chaperoning adults to the LCMS National Youth Gathering. The next one is scheduled for July 11-15, 2019 in Minneapolis, MN. This event has regularly been an extremely significant point in the faith development of young people in the LCMS.  Workshops on real-life topics, crazy games and activities, and massive worship events.  OSLC sent a group of youth and adults to chaperone and take the whole experience in.  Contact Joelle Schaan if you have any questions or are interesting in attending an LCMS Youth Gathering in the future.
